Lucid Dream beat Beyond to qualify for Asia Minor

Lucid Dream have assured themselves of a spot at the Asia Minor leading to the ESL One Rio Major after topping the Southeast Closed Qualifier with a victory over Beyond in the grand final.

The Thai side had cruised through the upper bracket on Saturday , dropping just one map en route to the final following victories over Paper Rex, HZ and Beyond.

Lucid Dream went into the best-of-five grand final with a map advantage, requiring only two map wins to secure a spot at the Asia Minor. The team once more faced Beyond, who had avoided elimination by besting BTRG in the consolidation final.

The series saw another convincing showing from Lucid Dream, who had recently bolstered their ranks with the signing of ex-GOSU duo Jong-Min "⁠Lakia⁠" Kim and Hong-Gyo "⁠Jinx⁠" Jung. The latter shone through on Inferno with a 1.47 rating to help the team to overcome a slow start and pick up a 16-12 victory.

Nuke followed, and it seemed like Beyond had finally got the ball rolling with a convincing CT start. However, Lucid Dream picked up the pace as the game wore on and carried that form into the second half, locking down the map 16-9 to seal passage to the Minor.
